Hooked on Pinterest

via
I'm sure all of you have heard of Pinterest by now, but in the event that you haven't,  I must share with you it's greatness. Consider it a virtual bulletin board of all of the awesome ideas, crafts, recipes, and more that you come across on the internet. You know how when you come across something you like, you usually bookmark the page, or save the picture to your hard drive so you can refer to it later? Well Pinterest just made this process a whole lot easier. Now all you do is "pin it" to one of your boards, and it will save the picture there, along with a link to the website where you found it. You can make boards with all different categories so your ideas are nice and organized...just the way we like it. :) You can also install the "pin" tool on your toolbar so you can pin things from any website. I know I'm not doing a very good job of explaining it, but I promise once you check it out it will all make sense. There are tons of Pinterest tutorials out there, so if you want more info, google it. This is also a good video tutorial.

The one problem with Pinterest is that it is SO addicting. I can spend hours on there...the neat ideas are never-ending! I've had my account for awhile, but haven't been on there much simply because my free time is so limited that I know I can't afford to get sucked in. BUT when using the iphone app, it makes it pretty easy to check out quickly from time to time, so I'm starting to pin more. I popped in this morning real quick and came across this pin that made it all worth the while:
You can go to this website to pre-plan a room...enter dimensions, furniture, etc. and it helps you plan the layout. I was thrilled to come across this because we are actually going to our rental house this weekend to take some measurements to see what of our furniture we can move with us. This will make it SO much easier to plan things now! I'm telling you....you can find everything on Pinterest.

Then I also came across this fun idea to get the Dr. Seuss book "Oh the Places You'll Go!" and have your child's teacher sign it each year as they go through school, then give it to them for graduation. Wouldn't that be a fun keepsake?! As she mentioned, wouldn't it be a great gift to a new mom too? I just love the possibilities and plan to do this when Manny starts Mother's Day Out this year.

I have tons of stuff I could share, and if I ever get my blogging act together I hope to join the Pinnable Me link up party.

If by chance you haven't joined the fun yet, leave your email address in a comment below (or email me) and I will send you an invite. You can also request one on their website, but it can take up to a week for them to send it, and we all know instant gratification is best, right? :) So just let me know if you want an invite and I promise I'll send you one by the end of the day. Oh, and if you want to follow me on Pinterest, you can do so here. Happy pinning! :)

  3. I finally joined yesterday--you're right though, it is TOTALLY addicting. Though to be honest, I had been spending time on the main page for MONTHS and adding them to my own bookmarks folder...so I was probably already spending the same amount of time...

    (end justification)

  24. On twitter today Ashley mentioned you had some good news to share so I have been reading some of your past blog posts...I wanted to ask if you will send me a pinterest invite? Congrats on your happy news! I have a 9 year old and a 6 month old. I started reading your blog right after you had Manny but I got a new computer and all of my bookmarks were lost so it's been a good 6 months since I have been on your blog!! I was so happy when Ashley referenced your blog on twitter today.
