I think my favorite feature is the ability to scan items to see if there is an offer (coupon) for them. (With over 700 offers on the app, my odds are usually pretty good!) So if I haven't already marked an offer before going in the store, this is a quick and easy way for me to see if I can save on extra items not on my list that might find their way into my cart. (not that that EVER happens.)
Say, for example, a gold glitter belt that was calling my name as I spotted it on an end cap. You bet I can justify that purchase when I got $3 off it! It's a bit of a thrill for me to pull out my phone, scan it, and hold my breath while waiting to see if it's my lucky day. I recognize I might have an issue. Just love me through it.
When you're ready to checkout, just hand your phone to the cashier and they scan the barcode just once - all your offers are wrapped into that one little barcode so it makes it quick and easy! On a recent shopping trip, I was able to save almost $15 using the Cartwheel app! As luck would have it, Patrick was with me and got to witness firsthand how awesome this app is. I know I sound crazy, but it really was a thrill! This happened before I was given the opportunity to write this post and I'm so bummed I don't still have the receipt to share the picture with you guys. But I assure you, it did happen, and I know it will happen again soon at the rate I frequent Target. :)
I've never saved that much on something like this using coupons. It really got me thinking how much more I could save if I would put forth a little more effort, because Target allows you to stack other Target discounts or coupons, manufacturers’ coupons with it - and not to mention that fabulous 5% discount on top of that if you have a REDcard!
I'll be honest - there's a lot more to Cartwheel than I even knew! I learned lots of fun stuff about it when I took on this opportunity. For example, you can use your Facebook login to sign up for Cartwheel. By doing this, you can see what offers your friends have on their Cartwheel lists. I've found some great stuff this way! If you want to use your Facebook login, but don't want your Cartwheel activity posted to Facebook, you can manage that via the app privacy settings. You can also add offers to your list as “private” if you don't want something specific shared on Facebook.
As if sharing about Cartwheel wasn't enough, I've got even more good news for you! Each comment posted in response to the question below garners an automatic entry into a random drawing for a $1,000 Target GiftCard®!!
To enter, all you have to do is comment and tell me - are you a couponer? If so, what's the most you've ever saved?

Love using the Cartwheel app. Other than a few department store coupons, Cartwheel are the only other coupons I use.
ReplyDeleteI am not really a couponer; the things I eat and like to buy, usually do not have coupons, or rarely do.

ReplyDeleteI am a couponer. I got many items for free by combining coupons and sale prices.

I am not one of those big "couponers". I do use coupons though and the Cartwheel app is awesome! I have already saved over $50 using it. If you shop at Target, it's a must.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am a 'couponer'. I have been for about 7 years. I always look at my savings as the percent off that I saved. The most is 85% and that was clearance prices combined with store coupons, manufacture coupons and cartwheel. I would love to win this giftcard and not have to spend any of 'my money' at target for a while!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. I've never been good with remembering coupons so I don't even try anymore. But this app makes it so easy I use it every time. I find a quiet spot right before checkout and just scan everything in my cart to see if there are any discounts. So easy!
ReplyDeleteI use coupons. I have gotten items free with coupons.

ReplyDeleteLove the cartwheel app. I usually save around 5 to 10 dollars on each shopping trip!
ReplyDeleteNot a couponer but am LOVING the cartwheel app! Thanks for sharing it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not an extreme couponer, but I am a couponer. I rarely save less than $10, but I've saved as much as $30!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you posted this. I try to be a couponer but often fail by forgetting my coupons at home. I love the Cartwheel app though. It's so easy! But I had no clue you could scan an item to see if there's a coupon...brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE APP!! I saved $16 couponing once, and was pretty happy. I spend way longer in Target now because I'm scanning things left and right, well played Target, well played!! Then a woman saw me scanning things and asked what I was doing, well she immediately downloaded it and started saving too! So, I'm gonna need that $1,000 please as a bonus! :)
ReplyDeleteYes and no, I saved $30 once using coupons! The Cartwheel App is the best thing EVER, all stores need to get on board with this. Thanks for sharing about the privacy settings!
ReplyDeleteLove Target! I'm downloading the app now! :)
ReplyDeleteYes I am a couponer. The most I have saved was about $200 on a grocery bill
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win this!

I coupon on occasion. I wouldn't consider myself a couponer, though. I love the cartwheel app!
ReplyDeleteIm not a serious couponer, but I once used all my sales and deals to save $40. It took me like two hours to get it all sorted out thought- so I kind of fell off the wagon. This app however gives me more reason to wander around Target kid free, so of course I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a couponer but, I saved $14.05 with my cartwheel app earlier this week!
ReplyDeleteI'm no couponer, but I am a bargain Betty and love a good deal! I am a fan of the Cartwheel app also. With three kids (one is still in diapers) I find it extremely useful. Speaking of useful, I would be forever grateful for a Target gift card, as I spend most of my time (and money) in that store. My husband would probably praise the good Lord if I won. He knows when I say that I need a few things there, that I'm coming home with enough items to redecorate an entire room. Is there such a thing as Target Shoppers Anonymous ??
ReplyDeleteI'm a simple couponer...only clip what I normally use! But excited to try the Cartwheel app! Yippee!

ReplyDeleteNot a couponer. I end up bringing them with me, buying the exact item (which is generally not the brand I would typically get) and then I find the coupon in my purse AFTER I've already paid and unloaded the car. Frustration!
ReplyDeleteI use some coupons but I am not really a couponer despite my best efforts. I agree that I love my cartwheel app especially combined with my red card. I have saved over $30 with it!
ReplyDeleteI love cartwheel (just recently discovered and i LOOOOVE target. shop there all the time. and that funny at the top... hilarious and so true. last week i saved $8 with my 5% off and cartwheel. it was awesome! i got so excited too. pretty proud moment. sure hope i win!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Target too! It's my Happy Place :) I do coupon. It's almost like an adrenaline rush when the cashier tells me my super discounted total. As for the most I've ever saved... I saved a little over $30 using coupons on one trip to Target this summer.
ReplyDeleteI am a couponer to some extent, but not a much as a few years ago when I had access to lots of paper inserts and double coupons. Things have changed.

ReplyDeleteI am, much to my chagrin actually. I really get vexed with all of the tiny pieces of paper (that I can hardly read!) and the printing; I LOVE LOVE coupons on a phone app. They are weirdly thrilling!

Now that it's just Hubz and me at home, I don't do the heavy duty grocery couponing like when cooking for a family . BUT...I like to have coupons, discount or promo codes for any home and clothing purchases possible.

Sweet! I am a couponer, and I typically save around 40% on my weekly shopping bill. But I almost always get items for 70+% off or free. Like most good things, it takes work--but has real rewards if you put in the effort. (:
